To provide faster service to dining car patrons, the Pennsylvania was one of several railroads to operate paired kitchen and dining cars on signature trains including The General and the Broadway Limited. The fully-enclosed kitchen was a model of modern efficiency, equipped with the latest in electric appliances, and the envy of many fine restaurants! Sleeping space was provided in the car for the kitchen crew and stewards, eliminating stops and expensive crew changes en route.
