Walthers Proto 920-27808 HO Scale Pullman-Standard Troop Sleeper Car Western Maryland WM S3003 - Standard
Add an important piece of American railroad history to your HO Scale layout with WalthersProto 50' Pullman-Standard Troop Sleeper and ACF Troop Kitchen Cars. As the United States entered World War II, the nation's passenger car fleet was pushed to its limits while the military required the rapid movement of increasing numbers of troops. Pullman-Standard answered the call by building Troop Sleeper and Kitchen Cars, serving alongside traditional heavyweights like the 12-1 Sleeper and 70' Baggage Cars. These special-built troop cars made up military trains that moved personnel across the U.S. during World War II and the Korean War. Troop Sleepers accommodated 29 soldiers plus a Pullman Porter, while Kitchen Cars featured a coal-fired stove and dedicated food preparation area. After the war, many were sold as surplus and rebuilt for service as express boxcars, cabooses or Maintenance of Way (MOW) equipment such as bunk cars. This car is unlighted.
