Trumpeter Scale Models 3722 1/200 USS Stevens DD-479 Fletcher Class Destroyer
Model Kit
Commissioned in 1942, USS Stevens (DD-479) was part of the legendary Fletcher-class destroyer program—the largest and arguably most successful class of destroyers ever built for the U.S. Navy. Designed for long-range Pacific operations, the Fletchers combined speed, heavy torpedo armament, and formidable dual-purpose 5-inch guns into a balanced and remarkably durable fighting ship.
Stevens saw extensive action in the Pacific Theater, screening carrier task forces, escorting convoys, and providing naval gunfire support during amphibious assaults from the Solomons through the Philippines. Like her sisters, she operated in the demanding environment of fast carrier warfare, where radar-directed gunnery, anti-aircraft defense, and aggressive torpedo tactics defined destroyer combat. The Fletcher class became the backbone of U.S. surface operations, earning a reputation for toughness and adaptability that carried many of them into postwar service around the globe.
