Capture the look of one of the most important early road-switchers in American diesel history with this finely detailed HO-scale representation of General Electric’s U25B in its low-hood configuration. Introduced in 1959, the U25B was GE’s first commercially successful domestic road locomotive and marked the beginning of the company’s eventual rise to prominence in the North American diesel market. The low-hood arrangement became a characteristic feature of later U25Bs, providing improved forward visibility while retaining the model’s distinctive long, angular hood and rugged road-switcher profile. This model is an excellent choice for layouts depicting the transition from first-generation to second-generation diesel power during the 1960s, when U25Bs could be found hauling everything from manifest freight to fast priority trains.
