Built to capture the rugged utility and unmistakable proportions of the famed USRA heavy switchers, the Proto 2000 Steam Collection USRA 0-8-0 Steam Locomotive delivers the kind of refined slow-speed performance and finely executed detailing that made the Proto 2000 Heritage Steam line so respected among HO scale steam enthusiasts. Introduced by the United States Railroad Administration during World War I, the prototype 0-8-0 answered the growing need for more powerful yard locomotives as freight cars became larger and heavier, and the design proved so successful that more than three dozen railroads either rostered the originals or copied the design well into the 1950s.
