Build one of the U.S. Navy’s most successful postwar submarines with this highly detailed 1/350 scale model of the GUPPY II Tench-class submarine. Originally constructed during the closing stages of World War II, Tench-class submarines formed the basis of the Navy’s ambitious Greater Underwater Propulsion Power Program (GUPPY), which modernized wartime boats using technology inspired by the German Type XXI submarine.

The GUPPY II conversion introduced a streamlined hull and sail, improved batteries, upgraded sonar, and enhanced snorkeling capability, dramatically increasing underwater speed, endurance, and combat effectiveness during the early Cold War. These submarines served with distinction for decades in the U.S. Navy before many were transferred to allied nations, where several remained in service well into the late 20th century.
