Recreate a specialized variant of Germany’s most famous submarine design with this highly detailed 1/350 scale model of the Type VII D Minelaying U-Boat. Developed from the successful Type VII family, the Type VII D was designed specifically to carry and deploy naval mines, extending the Kriegsmarine’s ability to disrupt Allied shipping lanes and defensive positions. Built in limited numbers during World War II, these submarines featured an enlarged hull section containing vertical mine shafts aft of the conning tower while retaining the proven operational characteristics of the Type VII platform. Although their service history was relatively short, Type VII D boats represented Germany’s continued efforts to expand submarine warfare beyond traditional torpedo attacks.
