The AFV Club 1/48 Northrop F-5E/F-5N Tiger II VFC-111 “Sundowners” model kit depicts one of the U.S. Navy’s iconic adversary aircraft, finished in the distinctive markings of the renowned VFC-111 “Sundowners” squadron. Featuring finely recessed panel lines, a highly detailed cockpit, optional open or closed canopy, and accurately reproduced external stores, the kit offers an excellent balance of detail and buildability. The F-5N is an upgraded version of the legendary F-5E Tiger II, acquired by the U.S. Navy to continue its vital aggressor mission after the retirement of earlier F-5 variants. Operated by VFC-111 at NAS Key West, these agile fighters simulate the performance and tactics of potential adversaries, providing realistic dissimilar air combat training for Navy and Marine Corps aviators.
