The P-40E Warhawk was a vital frontline fighter for the U.S. Army Air Forces during the early years of World War II, serving in major theaters including North Africa, China-Burma-India, and the Pacific. Although it lacked the high-altitude performance of newer fighters, its durability, heavy armament, and excellent diving capability made it a formidable aircraft when flown using effective “boom-and-zoom” tactics. The type became especially famous through units such as the American Volunteer Group “Flying Tigers” and continued to serve with distinction in ground attack and fighter roles throughout the war.
