The M1296 Dragoon represents one of the most significant upgrades to the U.S. Army’s Stryker family of armored vehicles, providing infantry units with greatly enhanced firepower through the addition of the 30mm XM813 Bushmaster II cannon housed in the Kongsberg Protector Medium Caliber Turret. Developed in response to evolving battlefield threats in Europe, the Dragoon entered service with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment beginning in 2018, dramatically increasing the lethality of Stryker Brigade Combat Teams while retaining the platform’s renowned mobility and versatility.
