The Churchill TLC (Trackway Laying Churchill) was part of the British Army’s extensive development of specialized armored vehicles during World War II. These engineering “Funnies,” many operated by the 79th Armoured Division, were created to solve battlefield challenges during major operations such as the Normandy landings. The carpet-laying system allowed armored formations to overcome terrain obstacles that could otherwise halt or delay an advance.
