The AFV Club AF35278 1/35 Stummel Sd.Kfz. 251/9 Ausf. D Early Type Half-Track Model Kit recreates the famous German armored infantry support vehicle known as the “Stummel” (Stump), an assault variant of the Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track equipped with a short-barreled 7.5cm infantry support gun. Designed to provide direct fire support for mechanized infantry units, this early Ausf. D version captures the distinctive features of one of the Wehrmacht’s most recognizable battlefield half-tracks.

The Sd.Kfz. 251 was one of Germany’s most important armored personnel carriers of World War II, serving as the backbone of Panzergrenadier formations from the early war years through 1945. The Sd.Kfz. 251/9 mounted the 7.5cm KwK 37 L/24 gun, giving infantry units a mobile weapon capable of engaging enemy positions, light fortifications, and armored targets at close range. The vehicle earned the nickname “Stummel” due to its shortened gun barrel and became a common sight on many fronts.
