The Churchill 3-inch 20 CWT Gun Carrier was an experimental British armored vehicle developed during World War II to provide increased anti-tank capability using the proven Churchill infantry tank chassis. Designed as part of Britain’s ongoing efforts to counter heavier German armor, the vehicle replaced the standard turret with a fixed superstructure mounting the powerful 3-inch 20 CWT gun, creating a heavily protected tank destroyer concept. Although only a limited number were produced and it never entered widespread service, it represents an important step in the evolution of British armored warfare.
