The M109A2 was one of the most important self-propelled artillery systems of the Cold War, entering service in the late 1970s as an upgraded version of the U.S. Army’s widely used 155mm howitzer. Featuring an improved M185 cannon, increased ammunition capacity, and numerous reliability enhancements, the M109A2 served with the United States and more than 30 nations around the world.
