The M24 Chaffee was the U.S. Army’s premier light tank of the late World War II era, developed to replace the aging M3 and M5 Stuart series with improved firepower, protection, and mobility. Entering combat in late 1944, the Chaffee featured a powerful 75mm M6 gun, a two-man turret, torsion bar suspension, and a lightweight design that provided excellent speed and maneuverability. Although introduced near the end of World War II, the M24 saw extensive postwar service with the United States and allied nations, including significant combat use during the Korean War.
