Hoppers such as this did yeoman service during the war and for decades after, moving coal, stone and other bulk materials.

This easy-to-build HO Scale USRA 2-Bay 55-Ton Open Hopper plastic car kit by Accurail features a one-piece body with details molded in place. Decorated models feature authentic paint and lettering schemes with end reporting marks. In addition, the trucks feature nonmagnetic axles, engineering plastic wheels and AccuMate® magnetic knuckle couplers.
