Requiring an aircraft that could go up against the F-14 Tomcat, the Soviet Union began working on the MiG-21’s replacement. Desiring a faster, long-range aircraft that could haul an impressive payload, the development of the aircraft was handed to the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau. The MiG-23's production began in 1969, resulting in over 5,000 aircraft being built. This model authentically replicates the MIG-23 Flogger in 1/144.
