Tamiya TAM58757 BB-02 Volkswagen Dune Beetle Cross 1/9 2WD Buggy Kit
The BB-02 Volkswagen Dune Beetle Cross 1/9 2WD Buggy Kit from Tamiya blends iconic Baja-inspired styling with modern off-road performance. Designed around a highly developed rear-wheel drive BB-02 chassis, this kit captures the spirit of desert racing with impressive scale realism and functional engineering. From its detailed polycarbonate Beetle body to its versatile suspension setup, it delivers both visual appeal and capable handling.
At the heart of this buggy is the rear-wheel drive BB-02 chassis, engineered for balance and durability in off-road conditions. The lengthwise battery layout and rear-mounted motor provide optimal weight distribution for improved traction and stability. A sealed gearbox with a built-in ball differential ensures smooth power delivery, while protective tire housings help keep dust and debris away from critical components. This thoughtful design makes it well-suited for a variety of terrain types.
The BB-02 chassis offers flexibility with two front suspension configurations, allowing builders to choose between double trailing arms or double wishbone arms. This adaptability lets drivers tailor performance for different surfaces, from smooth dirt tracks to rough off-road environments. Four-wheel independent suspension with rear trailing arms enhances handling and control, while adaptive dampers help reduce oil leakage and maintain consistent performance. The result is a buggy capable of stable straight-line runs and confident jumps.
This model stands out with its race-inspired Volkswagen Beetle body, complete with bulging fenders and an open rear engine area. Realistic details such as a roll cage, exhaust system, window net, and interior components add to the authentic appearance. Included driver and co-driver figures with modern off-road styling further enhance the scale look. Combined with detailed decals and optional LED-ready light housings, this buggy offers a visually immersive build and driving experience.
